Islam & Torture or Torment:-

5:33        "The punishment for those who wage war against Allah and His Prophet and make mischief in the land, is to slaughter [youqattaloo]  them, crucify [yousallaboo] them, or cut off a hand and foot on opposite sides...their doom is dreadful. They will not escape the fire, suffering constantly."

8:12        "Your Lord inspired the angels with the message: 'I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes."

9:5        But when the forbidden months are past then fight and slay [fa^qtuloo] the pagans wherever ye find them and capture them, beleaguer them and lie in wait for [ambush] them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.

48:27 "If the Muslims had not been there, We would have punished the unbelievers with a grievous torture."

Bukhari: 1.215        Narrated byIbn Abbas
Once the Prophet, while passing through one of the graveyards of Medina or Mecca heard the voices of two persons who were being tortured in their graves. The Prophet said, "These two persons are being tortured not for a major sin (to avoid)." The Prophet then added, "Yes! (they are being tortured for a major sin). Indeed, one of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine while the other used to go about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends). The Prophet then asked for a green leaf of a date-palm tree, broke it into two pieces and put one on each grave. On being asked why he had done so, he replied, "I hope that their torture might be lessened, till these get dried."

Bukhari: 4.260
"Ali burnt some [former Muslims alive] and this news reached Ibn Abbas, who said, 'Had I been in his place I would not have burnt them, as the Prophet said,
"Don't punish with Allah's Punishment."
No doubt, I would have killed them, for the Prophet said,
"If a Muslim discards his Islamic religion, kill him."

Bukhari: 4.428        Narrated byAta
'Aisha said, -If the Prophet saw a cloud in the sky, he would walk to and fro in agitation, go out and come in, and the color of his face would change, and if it rained, he would feel relaxed." So 'Aisha knew that state of his. So the Prophet said, I don't know (am afraid), it may be similar to what happened to some people referred to in the Holy Qur'an in the following verse:   "Then when they saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said, 'This is a cloud bringing us rain!' Nay, but, it is that (torment) which you were asking to be hastened a wind wherein is severe torment." (46.24)

Bukhari: 4.487
"The Prophet said, 'The Hell Fire is 69 times hotter than ordinary worldly fires.'
So someone said,
'Allah's Apostle, wouldn't this ordinary fire have been sufficient to torture the unbelievers?'"

*** Even the most ignorant among his followers could not fathom the magnitude of Muhammad's DEPRAVED indifference to human suffering ***

Bukhari: 4.809        Narrated by Khabbab bin Al Arat
We complained to Allah's Apostle (of the persecution inflicted on us by the infidels) while he was sitting in the shade of the Ka'ba, leaning over his Burd (i.e. covering sheet). We said to him, "Would you seek help for us? Would you pray to Allah for us?" He said, "Among the nations before you a (believing) man would be put in a ditch that was dug for him, and a saw would be put over his head and he would be cut into two pieces; yet that (torture) would not make him give up his religion. His body would be combed with iron combs that would remove his flesh from the bones and nerves, yet that would not make him abandon his religion. By Allah, this religion (i.e. Islam) will prevail till a traveler from Sana (in Yemen) to Hadrarmaut will fear none but Allah, or a wolf as regards his sheep, but you (people) are hasty.

Bukhari: 6.83        Narrated byAbu Huraira
Whenever Allah's Apostle intended to invoke evil upon somebody or invoke good upon somebody, he used to invoke (Allah) after bowing (in the prayer). Sometimes after saying, "Allah hears him who sends his praises to Him, all praise is for You, O our Lord," he would say, "O Allah. Save Al-Walid bin Al-Walid and Salama bin Hisham, and 'Aiyash bin Abu Rabi'a. O Allah! Inflict Your Severe Torture on Mudar (tribe) and strike them with (famine) years like the years of Joseph." The Prophet used to say in a loud voice, and he also used to say in some of his Fajr prayers, "O Allah! Curse so-and-so and so-and-so," naming some of the Arab tribes till Allah revealed:  "Not for you (O Muhammad) (but for Allah) is the decision." (3.128)

*** These are the prayers of the compassionate and merciful Muhammad that his followers keep insisting that he was ***

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.171        Narrated byAnas bin Malik
Abu Jahl said, "O Allah! If this (Quran) is indeed the Truth from You, then rain down on us a shower of stones from the sky or bring on us a painful torment." So Allah revealed:  "But Allah would not punish them while you were amongst them, nor He will punish them while they seek (Allah's) forgiveness..." (8.33) "And why Allah should not punish them while they turn away (men) from Al-Masjid-al-Haram (the Sacred Mosque of Mecca)..."    (8.33-34)

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.183        Narrated byZaid bin Wahb
I passed by (visited ) Abu Dhar at Ar-Rabadha and said to him, "What has brought you to this land?" He said, "We were at Sham and I recited the Verse: 'They who hoard up gold and silver and spend them not in the way of Allah; announce to them a painful torment,'  (9.34) whereupon Muawiya said, 'This Verse is not for us, but for the people of the Scripture.'  Then I said, 'But it is both for us (Muslim) and for them.' "

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.238        Narrated byAbdullah
Regarding the explanation of the Verse: "Those whom they call upon (worship) (like Jesus the Son of Mary, angels etc.) desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord (Allah) as to which of them should be the nearer and they hope for His Mercy and fear His torment." (17.57) They themselves (e.g. Angels, saints, Apostles, Jesus, etc.,) worshipped Allah. Those Jinns who were worshipped by some Arabs became Muslims (embraced Islam), but those human beings stuck to their (old) religion. Al-Amash said extra: 'Say, (O Muhammad): Call unto those besides Him whom you assume (to be gods).' " (17.56)

*** Only in the Quran does the concept exist of the Jinn as a race created by Allah in parallel with that of Humans.

The relevant question to be asked from the followers of Muhammad is: Since the Quran itself asserts that the Torah was given by Allah to Moses and is eternally with Allah on a Table Preserved, then how is it possible that the Quran CONTRADICTS the original Creation Story in the Bible?  ***

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.265        Narrated byAbu Said Al Khudri
The Prophet said, "On the day of Resurrection Allah will say, 'O Adam!' Adam will reply, 'Labbaik our Lord, and Sa'daik.' Then there will be a loud call (saying), 'Allah orders you to take from among your offspring a mission for the (Hell) Fire.' Adam will say, 'O Lord! Who are the mission for the (Hell) Fire?' Allah will say, 'Out of each thousand, take out 999.' At that time every pregnant female shall drop her load (have a miscarriage) and a child will have grey hair. And you shall see mankind as in a drunken state, yet not drunk, but severe will be the torment of Allah." (22.2) (When the Prophet mentioned this), the people were so distressed (and afraid) that their faces got changed (in color) whereupon the Prophet said, "From Gog and Magog nine-hundred ninety-nine will be taken out and one from you. You Muslims (compared to the large number of other people) will be like a black hair on the side of a white ox, or a white hair on the side of a black ox, and I hope that you will be one-fourth of the people of Paradise." On that, we said, "Allahu-Akbar!" Then he said, "I hope that you will be one-third of the people of Paradise." We again said, "Allahu-Akbar!" Then he said, "(I hope that you will be) one-half of the people of Paradise." So we said, Allahu Akbar."

*** The Hadith above confirms yet again - if any further proof is required - that Muhammad's 'revelations' were MAN MADE - by Muhammad of course - and that he was CHANGING/ ABROGATING the verses INSTANTANEOUSLY as when and how he wished ***

Bukhari: 6.395        Narrated byAbdullah
The Prophet recited: 'Fahal-min-Muddakir' "And Verily an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. So, taste you My torment and My warnings." (54.38-39)

Bukhari: 8.398        Narrated byAnas
The most frequent invocation of The Prophet was: "O Allah! Give to us in the world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire."  (2.201)

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 494        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas
Ibn Abbas spent a night at the house of the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) got up for prayer in the latter part of the night. He went out and looked towards the sky and then recited this verse (190th) of Aal-i-Imran: "Verily in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day," up to the (words) "Save us from the torment of Hell." He then returned to his house, used the tooth-stick, performed ablution, and then got up and offered the prayer. He than lay down on the bed, and again got up and went out and looked towards the sky and recited this verse (mentioned above), then returned, used the tooth-stick, performed ablution and again offered the prayer.

*** According to his followers, Muhammad was SINLESS. If so, why would he FEAR so much the Torment of Hell?

Why are there numerous Hadiths attesting that SIN was removed from Muhammad?

Why are there several verses in the Quran mentioning his SIN? ***

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 1212        Narrated byAisha
The Prophet (peace be upon him) entered my house when a Jewess was with me and she was saying: Do you know that you would be put to trial in the grave? The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) trembled (on hearing this) and said: It is the Jews only who would be put to trial. Aisha said: We passed some nights and then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Do you know that it has been revealed to me: "You would be put to trial in the grave"? Aisha said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) seeking refuge from the torment of the grave after this.

*** Muhammad - according to the Quran and Hadiths - was a very superstitious man who believed in the evil eye, the casting of spells, in incantations etc.

From the time of the above encounter with the Jewess, till the day he died, he was in dreadful fear of the torment of the grave ***

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 1213        Narrated byAbuHurayrah
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) seeking refuge from the torment of the grave after this (after the revelation).

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 1219        Narrated byAbuHurayrah
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: When any one of you completes the last tashahhud, he should seek refuge with Allah from four (trials) i.e. from the torment of Hell, from the torment of grave, from the trial of life and death, and from the mischief of Masih ad-Dajjal (Antichrist). This hadith has been narrated by al-Awza'i with the same chain of transmitters but with these words: "When any one of you completes the tashahhud" and he made no mention of the words "The last".

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 1529        Narrated byAl-Bara' ibn Azib
When we prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) we cherished to be on his right side so that his face would turn towards us (at the end of the prayers), and he (the narrator) said: I heard him say: O my Lord save me from Thy torment on the Day when Thou wouldst raise or gather Thy servants.

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6349        Narrated byAbuSa'id al-Khudri and AbuHurayrah
Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: Glory is His lower garment and Majesty is His cloak and (Allah says:) He who contends with Me in regard to them I shall torment him.

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6488        Narrated byAisha
Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: He who loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and he who dislikes to meet Allah, Allah abhors to meet him. I (Aisha) said: Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) so far as the feeling of aversion against death is concerned, we all have this feeling. Thereupon he (the Prophet) said: It is not that (which you construe), but (this) that when a believer (at the time of death) is given the glad tidings of the mercy of Allah, His Pleasure, and of Paradise, he loves to meet Allah, and Allah also loves to meet him, and when an unbeliever is given the news of the torment at the Hand of Allah, and hardship to be imposed by Him, he dislikes to meet Allah and Allah also abhors to meet him.

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6568        Narrated byZayd ibn Arqam
I am not going to say anything but only that which Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) used to say. He used to supplicate: "O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from incapacity, from sloth, from cowardice, from miserliness, decrepitude and from torment of the grave. O Allah, grant to my soul the sense of righteousness and purify it, for Thou art the Best Purifier thereof. Thou art the Protecting friend thereof, and Guardian thereof. O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from the knowledge which does not benefit, from the heart that does not entertain the fear (of Allah), from the soul that does not feel contented and the supplication that is not responded."

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6569        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Mas'ud
When it was evening Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: "We entered upon evening and the whole Kingdom of Allah also entered upon evening and praise is due to Allah. There is no god but Allah, the One Who has no partner with Him." Hasan said that Zubayd reported to him that he memorised it from Ibrahim in these very words: "His is the Sovereignty and Praise is due to Him, and He is Potent over everything. O Allah, I beg of Thee the good of this night and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of this night and the evil which follows it. O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from sloth, from the evil of vanity. O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from torment in the Hell-Fire and from torment in the grave."

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6859        Narrated byZayd ibn Thabit
As Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) was going with us towards the dwellings of Banu an-Najjar. While riding his pony, it shied and he nearly fell off. He found four, five or six graves there.  He said: Which of you knows about those lying in the graves?  Someone said: I do. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: In what state did they die?  He said: They died as polytheists.  He said: These people are passing through the ordeal in the graves. If it were not for the fact that you would stop burying (your dead) in the graves if you heard the torment in the grave, which I hear, I should have certainly made you listen to it.  Then turning his face towards us, he said: Seek refuge with Allah from the torment of Hell.  They said: We seek refuge with Allah from the torment of Hell.  He said: Seek refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave.  They said: We seek refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave.  He said: Seek refuge with Allah from turmoil, its visible and invisible (aspects).  They said: We seek refuge with Allah from turmoil and its visible and invisible aspects.  He said: Seek refuge with Allah from the turmoil of the Dajjal.  They said: We seek refuge Allah from the turmoil of the Dajjal.

*** From among all of the pagan Arabs, only Muhammad was able to TUNE IN and hear the dead being TORMENTED in their GRAVES.

Neither in the Hebrew Bible or in the New Testament nor in any other religious belief system is there a concept of being tortured in the grave. Invariably the torture occurs in Hell but only in Muhammad's imaginings does it occur in the grave***

Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6860        Narrated byAnas ibn Malik
Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: If you were not (to abandon) the burying of the dead (in the grave), I would have certainly supplicated Allah that He should make you listen the torment of the grave.

Ishaq:312        "Umar said to the Apostle, 'Let me pull out Suhayl's two front teeth. That way his tongue will stick out and he will never be able to speak against you again.'"

Ishaq:316        "Following Badr, Muhammad sent a number of raiders with orders to capture some of the Meccans and burn them alive."

Tabari VII:133
Ishaq:387        "When Muhammad saw Hamzah he said, 'If Allah gives me victory over the Quraysh at any time, I shall mutilate thirty of their men!' When the Muslims saw the rage of the Prophet they said, 'By Allah, if we are victorious over them, we shall mutilate them in a way which no Arab has ever mutilated anybody."

Tabari VIII:122
Ishaq:515        "The Prophet gave orders concerning Kinanah to Zubayr, saying, 'Torture him until you root out and extract what he has. So Zubayr kindled a fire on Kinanah's chest, twirling it with his firestick until Kinanah was near death. Then the Messenger gave him to Maslamah, who beheaded him."

Ishaq:550        "The Muslims met them with their swords. They cut through many arms and skulls. Only confused cries and groans could be heard over our battle roars and snarling."

Ishaq:595        "The Apostle said, 'Get him away from me and cut off his tongue.""

Tabari VIII:96        "A raiding party led by Zayd set out against Umm in Ramadan. During it, Umm suffered a cruel death. Zyad tied her legs with rope and then tied her between two camels until they split her in two. She was a very old woman. Then they brought Umm's daughter and Abdallah to the Messenger. Umm's daughter belonged to Salamah who had captured her. Muhammad asked Salamah for her, and Salamah gave her to him."

Tabari IX:6        "The chief sheep tender sent out spies to obtain intelligence. But they came back with their joints dislocated. When he asked what had happened, they said, 'We saw white men on black horses. Before we could resist, we were struck as you see us now."

Al-Muwatta  Hadith 16.18
What to Say in the Prayer for the Dead
Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya ibn Said said that he heard Said ibn al-Musayyab say, "I once prayed behind Abu Hurayra over a child who had never done a wrong action and I heard him say, 'O Allah, give him protection from the torment of the grave.' "
